Manufacturers of rubber car mats, rubber/carpet car mats, boot mats and rubber doormats, currently Cannon Automotive supplies many of the world’s leading car manufacturers with rubber car mats in the after sales market.  Companies such as Toyota, Nissan, Peugeot, Land Rover and Subaru purchase rubber car mats through Cannon Automotive.

History

Founded in 1936 by David Atkin, the father of the present owner, and at that time known as 'The Cannon Rubber Manufacturers Ltd'.

The company was originally a general rubber goods company producing products as diverse as rubber hot water bottles, rubber shoe soles and natural rubber baby bottle teats.

In 1955, Cannon aquired the current site, Brook House, in Tottenham in north east London.  The first Cannon car mats were introduced in the late 1950s and were of a rectangular shape. In the early 1960s, Cannon won its first OEM contract to supply Ford with rubber car mats.  Successful contracts followed with all the leading car manufacturers, the company winning the first of many Queen's Awards to Industry in 1966.

In the 1970s, Cannon formed two divisions, the Automotive division based in Tottenham and the Baby Division (Avent) based in Glemsford, Suffolk.  It remained like this for over 30 years until in 2005 when the Baby Division was sold.  The company was re-named as Cannon Automotive Ltd but it still remained under the ownership of the Atkin Family.

The Present Day

Cannon Automotive offers a full service to all its major customers and thrives in giving the best competitive, quality standard.  Cannon also manufactures Cannon branded products for the retail market with its own Cannon rubber car mats and Cannon rubber bootmats in leading outlets such as Halfords and Kwik Fit, and with distributors throughout the Globe such as PR Reilly in Ireland and Products of Excellence in Australia to name just two.

Cannon also produces a range of rubber household doormats, which will function in all weather conditions. Due to customer demand, Cannon now produce tailored rubber car mats that are designed to fit individual vehicles.  The car specific rubber mats are known as Vehicle Specific (VS).  These are designed to offer a perfect fit and they function as all weather rubber car mats. Currently these are available for several models from the BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and Seat manufacturers and Cannon are in an on-going development programme to extend the cars for which this product is available.
